Julia Balfour is an abstract painter from Toronto, Canada. The forms found in her abstract paintings are a trace of her experiences, deeply influenced by colour. Her abstract paintings reflect her view on the importance of colour in its most elegant and purest form. She uses watercolour to develop layers and relies on colour to construct its own shape and find its place within a composition.
She has made small works on paper and also has accomplished large watercolour works on canvas. Julia had the opportunity of creating two large watercolour paintings that are each 14-feet by 8-feet, installed at the lobby of the Lighthouse Tower on Toronto’s waterfront.
Julia has shown her work in local galleries and is part of public collections throughout the city of Toronto.
