Julia Balfour is a Canadian abstract painter. The forms found in her abstract paintings, act as a trace of her experiences that are deeply influenced by colour. Her abstract paintings reflect her view on the importance of colour in its most elegant and purest form. She uses watercolour to develop layers and relies on colour to construct its own shape and find its place within a composition.

Julia graduated from the Drawing and Painting program from the Ontario College of Art and Design University. She has shown her work in local galleries, displays her work in interior design showrooms and is part of public collections throughout the city.

She works with watercolour as her medium on paper and canvas. Along with small works on paper, Julia has accomplished large works on canvas and had the opportunity of creating two large watercolour paintings that are each 14-feet by 8-feet, installed at the lobby of the Lighthouse Tower on Toronto’s waterfront.

Julia lives and works from her studio in Toronto.
